I was amazed at Office 2008 taking forever to load. Forever is indeed very relative, but I think most people will think of “forever” when it takes more than a minute to open up Word. It was simply ridiculous and unacceptable! After a bit of looking around, I found the ever simple solution.
By default, Office 2008 auto loads the project gallery and renders all the fonts for previewing.
Here is the simple fix:
1. Launch word
2. Go to Word>Preferences
3. Click on “General”
4. unmark “WYSIWYG font and style menus”
5. unmark “Show Project Gallery At Startup”
6. Quit word
7. Reopen Word
Presto! Enjoy your office programs opening in a couple seconds.
A week after, and I found the perfect skin for my MacBook.
It’s made by Tucano and is made specifically for the MacBook, giving it a perfect fit. It has an inner protection sleeve which protects the lappy from being scratched by the zipper (feature I didn’t find on any of the universal sized sleeves I looked at).
